Ham and Eggs (Hemendex)
Ingredients: 3 slices of ham, 2 eggs, paprika, salt, tomato
Prep Time: 10 minutes
The funny thing about hemendex is that the name clearly comes from English. Yet, I have never seen anything like this served in an American restaurant. Perhaps it’s British? Here is the recipe for this tasty and simple dish that will give you a great alternative to bacon or waffles.
Spray a frying pan with a non-stick spray and brown three slices of ham for about 2 minutes. Flip over, break two eggs, and season with paprika and salt.
Cover, and cook until the whites set. The yolks will be little runny.
It surely comes from the British ham and eggs. We have something like that in Slovenia, but we call it “jajca na oko” (lit. “eggs in the shape of an eye”) or in English eggs sunny side up 🙂
We also have eggs sunny side up here in the States, but these never have ham. It’s good to hear that British have this combination. Seems that the eggs with ham mix never made it over the pond; here eggs are served either with bacon or with sausage links.
We have ham and eggs in Canada. Not like that though… the eggs and ham are always separate from what I’ve seen.
most american restaurants serves fatty foods that is why sometimes i avoid them -.’

I’ve just come back from Slovakia and my gf’s mum served this every morning, but using bacon and salami, along with the eggs and fresh paprika (not the powder) – it’s immense and I can assure you we have nothing like it in Britain. Ham, Eggs and Chips (fries) is the only British dish I can think of that mixes ham and eggs, but this wouldn’t be eaten for breakfast and also is all laid out separately on the plate, not mixed up together
This is exactly the info I desired. Thank you for writing this article.
